We are a not-for-profit organization that empowers refugees by providing them with the educational resources needed to make a successful transition to the United States.

In January 2019 we opened our first learning center in the heart of the West Ridge neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. Since then, we have grown to serve more than 50 students.

UPDATE: As the center is currently closed due to COVID-19, we have transitioned to virtual tutoring, and we are humbled by how many volunteers have stepped up to join us as online tutors! Thanks to you, we are currently providing more than 300 hours of one-on-one instruction each week.

As much of our staff has transitioned to providing emergency assistance to our families that have been hit hard by COVID and economic hardship, we are currently unable to process new volunteer applications. However, we intend to resume this process in July, so if you are a prospective volunteer, please keep an eye out for further updates!

What We Do

We provide daily tutoring to refugee children in grades K-12 and English classes to adults.

Who We Are

We are staffed by professional and volunteer tutors who are dedicated to making Chicago a city where refugees can thrive.

Our learning center is conveniently located for clients we serve: refugees who live in and around the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago.

Our Strategy

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where migrants in need are welcomed and empowered.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure that refugee families are provided access to an education sufficient to prepare them to become economically self-sufficient and robustly engaged in American civic life.

Together, we are a small

community with a big purpose.
