Tell me a bit about yourself!

India is from Chicago, Illinois where attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She is currently a student at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.

What experience did you have with volunteering prior to FORA?

Before FORA, India has volunteered as a gardener at a city community garden, serving meals at homeless shelters, and at a school for children with Autism.

How did you learn about FORA and what made you commit to it?

India heard about FORA from an article in her high school’s alumni magazine. She originally started with FORA as a virtual tutor during the summer of 2020 but she wanted to experience the organization in person and decided to join as a tutor for the summer.

Why does refugee education matter to you?

It is very important to India that everyone who comes to America as a refugee has an equal opportunity to become educated.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In her free time, India loves to read and is passionate about dance. Her favorite styles are Ballet and Modern dance.
