Alyssa (she/they) is a rising junior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, but her hometown is Naperville, IL. She is double majoring in Psychology and Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies.
What experience did you have with volunteering prior to FORA?
Alyssa has not had much experience volunteering, but is excited to learn through working with FORA.
How did you learn about FORA and what made you commit to it? Why does refugee education matter to you?
Alyssa learned about FORA through Handshake, and wanted to join the refugee education efforts to gain hands-on experience in resisting the oppressions of minority groups through the right to literacy.
What brings you joy in life / what do you like to do in your free time?
In their free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, embroidery, and munching on dumplings.
